Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Source-1 Canal near Goraj village and Source-3 near Hansalpur to review the first phase of the ₹377.65 crore project, which is part of the Rs 1400 crore initiative to improve irrigation facilities in the Nalkantha area. The Chief Minister inspected the Fatevadi-Nalkantha irrigation project with Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Chairman K. Kailashnathan, Managing Director Mukesh Puri, and Director Parthiv Vyas, providing strategic guidance. CM emphasized the need for high quality and swift progress in the work.

This project is designed to improve irrigation facilities in the Narmada Canal and Fatevadi Canal Scheme areas, covering 11,000 hectares of unirrigated land. It will provide irrigation to approximately 35,000 hectares across 39 villages in Nalkantha, benefiting 14 villages in Sanand taluka, 13 in Viramgam taluka, and 12 in Bavla taluka. Upon completion of Phase 1 of the project, with an estimated cost of ₹377.65 crore, will irrigate approximately 12,000 hectares with Narmada water. Additionally, 65 percent of the project is complete. Phase 1 is expected to wrap up by August 2025, while the second phase, with an estimated cost of ₹1027 crore, is set to begin by the end of this year. During the Chief Minister’s visit, Ahmedabad District Panchayat President Smt. Kanchanba Vaghela, Sanand MLA Kanubhai Patel, and senior officials from Narmada Nigam were present.
