New Delhi: As Republic Media Network continues to expose political cover-ups and discrepancies within the Pune Police's handling of the Porsche crash wherein a 17-year-old super-rich brat killed two techies in Kalyani Nagar, top sources on Thursday revealed that NCP MLA Sunil Tingre, whose involvement in the case is under the scanner, has briefed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on the matter. For the unversed, Tingre is at the centre of controversy for his visit to the Yerwada police station where the 17-year-old accused was taken. There are allegations that he exerted pressure on officials to handle the case leniently.

Earlier, while speaking to Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, Pune top cop Amitesh Kumar had admitted that Sunil Tingre visited Yerawada police station on the night of the mishap. Moreover, Tingre had also admitted that he visited the police station but adopted Ajit's stance that he urged the Yerawada police to conduct their investigation independently, without any undue pressure.

Meanwhile, Pawar has dashed off to Pune wherein he is expected to hold a meeting with Pune top cop Amitesh Kumar.

Did Pawar and Amitesh Kumar Try to Shield Super Rich Brat?

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made a big confession and said that he was in direct contact with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. While Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar admitted to being in touch with the Police Commissioner, the latter himself has not disclosed any details regarding Pawar's calls.

What Did Ajit Pawar Confess?

“If any of the reporters inform me that an incident took place in the area where you are the Guardian Minister,  I will talk about it to the Commissioner. If the incident takes place in Pimpri Chinchwad, then I will tell the official who is appointed there. When I heard about this accident I spoke to him (Commissioner). I will never tell them to spare someone, I will tell them that even if Ajit Pawar is at fault you should take action against him. I told the commissioner that you should not succumb to any of the political pressure”, Pawar said.

Key Questions That Arise From Pawar's Confession

  • Why did Amitesh Kumar hide this information?
  • Was Ajit Pawar directly calling the Pune Police Commissioner?
  • Did Ajit Pawar directly try to interfere in the probe?
  • Should Ajit Pawar have gone through Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis?

What Happened on Intervening Night of May 18-19

On May 18, the 17-year-old rich brat had gone partying, driving a ₹2.5-crore Porsche Taycan with friends to celebrate his Class 12 results. After consuming alcohol at two pubs (Cosie and Blak) and racking up a bill of ₹48,000, the drunk teen and two companions crashed the Porsche into a scooter in Kalyani Nagar during the early hours of May 19, at speeds exceeding 150 kmph. The collision resulted in the deaths of two 24-year-old IT professionals. Aneesh Awadhiya, the rider of the scooter, was sent airborne and collided with a parked car, while Ashwini Koshta, the pillion rider, was flung 20 feet into the air. Within 15 hours, the super-rich brat was granted bail, with one of the conditions being to pen a 300-word essay. However, amidst widespread public outcry, he was later remanded to a juvenile remand home until June 5.
