Kannada Actor Rachita Ram Reacts To Darshan’s Alleged Involvement In Murder Case: I Hope Justice…

Kannada actor Darshan landed himself in a soup when he was detained by Bengaluru police on Sunday, June 9. The actor was arrested from Mysuru in connection with a murder case of a man identified as Renuka Swamy. The police are still investigating whether the actor was directly involved in the murder or was a conspiracy against him. Now, actress Rachita Ram has taken to her social media account to react to the news of Darshan’s case and demand justice to be served to the victim. 

‘Unable to believe my mentor is involved’, says Rachita Ram on Darshan’s arrest 

On June 18, days after Darshan’s arrest, his peer in the industry and actress Rachita Ram took to her social media account to pen a note on the matter. She expressed her concern for the family of the deceased Renukaswamy but also expressed shock at learning about Darshan’s involvement in the matter. She noted how Darshan introduced her to the film industry and played the role of a mentor. 

The note, originally in Kannada, read, “Following the recent incident, I am writing this note, not as an actress but as an ordinary citizen. Firstly, my condolences to Renuka Swamy and I pray for his soul to rest in peace. I also pray to the Almighty to give strength to the family of Renuka Swamy to bear this loss. Further, I also believe that justice will be served in this case.” 

She further shared, “Darshan sir, who introduced me to the film industry, is like a guru (mentor) to me. It's hard to believe that Darshan sir, who guided me, is involved in such a case. However, I believe that truth shall prevail in the end following the police investigation into the matter.” The actress concluded the note by mentioning, that she was hopeful that the media would report the case transparently and impartially.

Protestors demand ban on Darshan in Renuka Swamy murder case

On June 12, several organisations protested against actor Darshan for his alleged involvement in a murder case. Members of many organisations submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. They demanded that KFCC ban Darshan from the film industry as he has brought a bad name to the entire state and film fraternity in Karnataka. 

Heavy police security has been deployed in front of the Karnataka film Chamber of Commerce as protestors show up in huge amounts. As per a statement given by the organisation, “We have submitted a memorandum to KFCC. We demand Darshan to be banned from the film industry and his films not to be released. Darshan has been repeatedly involved in such incidents and he should be suspended from the industry. We give 15 15-day deadline to the KFCC to take action against him or we will protest in an intense manner against this injustice to the victim. Over 100 organisations will protest if action is not taken against Darshan.”
