Ulajh Box Office: Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah share screen space for the first time in the recently released film. Ulajh hit the big screens on August 2 alongside Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu. Despite a stellar cast and unique plot, the Janhvi starrer failed to take a decent start at the box office. The movie registered a meagre number of tickets sold in advanced booking and the opening day collections are not looking optimistic either. Amid the lukewarm response, Gulshan Devaiah took to his social media account to pen a note for the film.

After remaining missing from promotions, Gulshan Devaiah urges viewers to share good word of mouth for Ulajh

Gulshan Devaiah took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on the day of Ulajh's release to urge social media users to watch the film. The actor, who remained visibly absent from the promotions of the film after remarking that he did not bond well with Janhvi during filmmaking, claimed that word of mouth is the ‘Everest’ of publicity. He shared that the days following up to the release of a new movie are naturally jittery but he is ‘not really stressed’ regarding the reception of Ulajh.

The actor penned a long note that read, "Word Of Mouth” is the Mt Everest of publicity.  It can’t be created without the organic support of the audience. This is what every movie in the cinemas hopes & prays.  #Ulajh is in cinemas today." He added that the ability to handle the stress before the release of the film gets better with experience and now that he has 13 years of it, he is managing it better.

He added, “I fell in love with movies since I was 6/7 years old. It’s always a special feeling to have a theatrical release. It’s been a little over 13 years in the business now & ya the ability to handle stress gets better & better with experience , so I’m not really stressed or anything.” He concluded the note by writing, “If the audience deems it fit, they will give us the gift of their very precious & coveted WOM."

Ulajh box office collection day 1: Janhvi Kapoor-Gulshan Devaiah film opens at snail's pace in India

Ulajh failed to open well at the domestic box office despite significant buzz around the film. Predicting the day 1 collections of the Janhvi Kapoor starrer, trade analyst Sumit Kadel told Republic Digital, “Ulajh is also having poor advance sale, it is projected to open around 80 lakh to 1.50 cr mark depending on audience reception.”His projections seem to be an overestimation given the early estimates of the film.

As per Sacnilk, Ulajh will rake in a meagre ₹0.45 crore at the domestic box office. However, these figures are an early estimate and the actual business might paint a prettier picture, but Janhvi Kapoor starrer is expected to have a dismal theatrical run. The clash with Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and big releases like Deadpool & Wolverine, Kalki 2898 AD still attracting viewers to theatres will act as a further deterrent to the film's business.
