New Delhi: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have officially released the notification for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. The computer-based test will take place on November 24, 2024, across three sessions. Detailed information can be found on the official CAT website: www.iimcat.ac.in. CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories] or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. 

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/Institution. If any University/Institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100. 

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process.

 Programs: CAT 2024 is a prerequisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programs of IIMs. CAT scores are also accepted by several non-IIM member institutions, a list of which is available on the CAT website. IIMs are not involved in the selection process of these non-IIM institutions.

CAT 2024 Registration Fees:

- ₹1250 for SC, ST, and PwD category candidates.
- ₹2500 for all other categories.

Candidates need to pay the registration fee only once, regardless of the number of institutes they are applying to. Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

CAT 2024 Important Dates:

- Registration Opens: August 01, 2024 (10:00 am)
- Registration Closes: September 13, 2024 (5:00 pm)
- Admit Card Download: November 05 – November 24, 2024
- Test Date: November 24, 2024
- Result Declaration: Second week of January 2025 (Tentative)

The CAT will be conducted in approximately 170 test cities. Candidates can select up to five preferred cities. The list of test cities is subject to change at the discretion of CAT authorities.

CAT 2024 Exam Details

Duration of the Test: The duration of the test will be 120 minutes. The test will have the following three sections: 

Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension 
Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative Ability 
Candidates will be allotted exactly 40 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. A mock exam to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website.
